Tips for negotiating better fares with the drivers:
1) Be flexible...if you have to go right now, chances are you will not be able to get a discount (unless you are traveling a great distance...over 25 miles)
2) Plan in advance...you want to go out this weekend...why not arrange for a ride today? Having an appointment for pick up on a future date and time will often persuade a driver to give you a deal.
3) Be polite and be reasonable...no one is obligated to give you a break on fares, but asking nicely will go far.
4) Trips that you must make on a regular basis are the best way to get lower rates...let the driver know the number of times this trip must be made in the coming month...if it's always the same time of day, etc...you should be able to get a discount depending of course on the length of the trip (going up the street to the grocery store 3 times a week would not likely qualify)
